European Poker Tour 2006: The Third Season

Just like the first and second season, the european poker Tour 2006 was also a huge success. After establishing itself as one of the premiere events in poker, the tour continued on the great tradition of featuring the best and the most competitive poker tournaments conducted all over Europe. The third season was indeed a success in its own right.

More and more new players tried to join and participate in the European Poker Tour. This prestigious poker event has been a home for numerous poker enthusiasts all over the continent for several years already. Because of this event, several good European poker players are slowly being introduced to the world. These people have proved that they can compete with all the other good poker players from all over the globe.

The European Poker Tour 2006 saw a total of 3,481 players from various countries participating in the various poker tournaments. It also featured 756 qualifiers from PokerStars.com. All in all, the prize pool for the third season amounted to 19,571,000 Euros.

The season started off with the EPT Barcelona tournament in Spain. The event was conducted from the 13th until the 16th of September 2006. Bjorn-Erik Glenne of Norway won the ultimate pot amounting to 691,000 Euros. Out of the 480 participants, a hundred are PokerStars qualifiers.

The next event was then held in England for the EPT London tournament. It featured 63 PokerStars qualifiers compete with other poker players. From September 21 to 24, 2006, the whole world was shocked on how Vicky Coren of Great Britain defeated all the other players in the tournament. At the end, she took home 500,000 British pounds.

The next three tournaments are the EPT Baden in Germany, the EPT Dublin in Ireland, and the EPT Copenhagen in Denmark. The EPT Baden tournament was won by Thang Duc Nguyen of Germany. He took home a total of 487,397 Euros. Meanwhile, Roland de Wolfe of Great Britain won the EPT Dublin. In the end, he took home a total of 554,300 Danish Euros. The EPT Copenhagen was then won by Magnus Petersson, taking home the grand pot amounting to 4,078,080 Euros.

The final three tournaments to complete the third season are the EPT German Open, the EPT Warsaw Open in Poland, and the EPT Grand Final. These major tournaments were won by Andreas Hoivold of Norway, Peter Jepsen of Denmark, and Gavin Griffin of the U.S., respectively. It is important to take note on Griffin, who won the ultimate tournament by taking home the grand pot amounting to 1,825,010 Euros.
